Feel free to select the survey that aligns with your current status. Your personalized results will remain unaffected by the survey you choose.
Student Survey: Tailored for middle school through high school reading and comprehension levels.
Adult Survey: Geared towards post-secondary students and adult career-seekers.
Watch this short “How to Take the Survey” video for a quick tutorial.
First, set aside 10 minutes of uninterrupted time to complete the survey.
Second is select toward the edges. To ensure the most accurate results, when answering the questions, be bold with your responses by selecting the “Not at all like me” or “Very much like me” options on the edges versus the options in the middle. If you're somewhere in the middle on a few responses, no pressure.
Answer the questions honestly; there are no right or wrong answers. Just be yourself!
Quickly and easily create an account and you will be sent directly to your results.
After answering the survey questions, you will be asked to create an account. Please enter an email address, create a password, and answer a couple of required questions.
The email and password allow you login and view your CCA Results.
The technology behind the CCA Results currently allows for three pronoun options to generate your customized survey report. We acknowledge these options are not exhaustive. Please choose the option that best fits your preference.
Your zip code is used to provide job opportunity matches close to you.
Additional demographic questions are optional. Answers to these questions help us to better serve you and other CCA Tool users.
For more information on how we use your data, refer to the Data Sharing and Privacy section or visit CCA’s full set of privacy policies at ColoradoCareerAdvising.com/data-sharing-and-privacy-policy.

DISC is the most widely used behavioral assessment tool, adopted by organizations around the world to improve self-awareness, teamwork and understand different communication styles. DISC scores reveal a person’s natural behavioral styles - Dominance, Influencing, Steadiness, and Compliance. These are sometimes referred to as Directness, Interactions, Sameness and Consciousness.
The most important thing to know when it comes to behaviors is there is no wrong or right style. Your DISC scores help you better understand yourself and articulate your unique qualities. And the more you understand and recognize different styles in other people, the easier it will be to communicate effectively.
Motivators are the driving force behind what truly matters to you, fueling passion, excitement, and fulfillment. Motivators will help you figure out which jobs and activities you might be most interested in. A person with a high Theoretical score, for example, will want the opportunity to learn more about most every subject. Most people are happiest when their job fulfills their top two Motivators.
Six Motivators correspond to people’s values:
Aesthetic - Desire for form, harmony, balance, or beauty
Individualistic - Desire for independence, visibility, rank, or power
Social - Desire to help others or solve a problem in society
Theoretical - Desire to learn for the sake of knowledge
Traditional - Driven by strong beliefs and standards
Utilitarian - Desire for a return on investment of time, energy or money
More information about Motivators in general and your specific Motivators can be found in your CCA Tool Results on the "What Motivates You" tab.

The Reflections and Goal Setting tab has personalized questions based on your unique behaviors and Motivators. They are designed to ignite introspection, helping you develop self-awareness and gain fresh perspectives. The Reflection Questions are designed to get you thinking about what you want out of a career and life. Answering these questions will help you narrow down your career options to the most suitable choices for you. Did you know that you’re 90% more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down? The Goal Setting section is the place to record your aspirations and give them the attention they deserve. Here are some tips for creating achievable goals:
Set short-term and long-term goals to choose a career and map your pathway.
Short-term = daily, weekly, monthly
Long-term = 1-5 years
Create an Action Plan: Choose one goal to break down into small steps.
Timeline: Pick a due date that feels reasonable, but challenging.
Resources: Identify the resources needed to complete this Action Step.
Accountability: Select an accountability partner. This can be a trusted friend, family member, career coach, high school advisor, or mentor. Connect with that person regularly. Discuss your progress and areas where you need support to stay on track. Communication is key to success!

The CCA Tool presents a valuable opportunity to foster career exploration for students or career seekers across various age groups. Encourage your advisees to start the process by taking the CCA Tool survey. The survey comes in two versions: one tailored for middle school through high school reading and comprehension levels, and the other suitable for advanced students and adults. Each tab of the results offers a view into career seekers wants and needs for a career:
Motivators - Identify the career seeker's top two Motivators and discuss their implications. Brainstorm careers aligned with these Motivators to provide personalized guidance.
DISC - The DISC behavioral assessment enhances self-awareness and understanding of different communication styles. DISC scores unveil a person's natural behavioral styles—Dominance (Directness), Influencing (Interactions), Steadiness (Sameness), and Compliance (Consciousness)—and help identify ideal work environments.
Communication Tips - Encourage the advisee to prioritize the Communication Tips that resonate with them. Discuss strategies to adapt communication patterns to accommodate their specific needs, reflecting their workplace communication preferences.
Career Suggestions - Review the "Career Suggestions" section to identify intriguing career options. Encourage exploration of both familiar and novel career ideas. The Career Match blog post offers in depth information on this section as well as activities for students and career seekers.
Reflection Questions and Goal Setting - Ask the career seeker to complete the Reflection Questions to facilitate better feedback on their preferred career choices. Assist them in setting challenging yet achievable short and long-term goals to support their career plan. This is a great place to assign individual work and track progress outside of the career coaching sessions. See the Reflection and Goal Setting section under Results for more success tips.
Navigating the CCA Tool: This 6-Step Guide will guide you and the career seeker toward an actionable career plan. Reference it during sessions or assign activities for the advisee to complete independently.
